In our world Rainmakers create the Rainbows of opportunity and reward.    Fundamentally, to call yourself a Rainmakers you must have two core competencies: First the ability to bring in new business or produce results, especially using influence, experience, insight, expertise and plain old ‘comprehension of the problem to be solved’ (which nearly always involves more listening than talking).

Second there is the need to create the opportunity – the engine driving the rain – through a blend of time proven techniques, fresh insights, the ability to identify and manage change…meshed with a touch of dexterity. So that you reap the maximum rewards from your media investment and our work.

Managing Director

Marianne’s innate confidence and ‘can do’ attitude are the attributes that proved critical in building a client base from scratch, and getting the business to a size that enabled it to achieve full media accreditation. Prior to establishing her own company, Marianne was General Manager of Direct Sales at TV3, New Zealand. Marianne has always been media focused and driven. 

Having come ‘from the media’, rather than the traditional route of agencies, Marianne has insights as to how media works. She knows how to leverage value from the many and varied channels she deals with, without compromising excellent on-going relationships. Before TV3, Marianne was Sales Manager of 91FM, New Zealand’s first FM music station.

91FM was trend setting, pioneering, and embodied the vision of its parent company Metromedia. Highly skilled in the ‘university-of-life’, Marianne also has a more conventional qualification in the form of a Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing from New Zealand’s pre-eminent tertiary institution The University of Auckland.

Media Manager

Charleen started in the industry in 1996 as a media assistant for the agency Time and Space. At the time she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do, other than she really loved advertising.

While working, she completed studies in a Diploma of Advertising from New Zealand’s AUT University. She topped her class in Media Planning which consolidated her feelings that her future lay in that area of focus. She joined Rainmakers in 2006

Charleen is a talented Media Planner with special skills in TV Planning. She really understands that a comprehensive plan needs to embody more than just the numbers. Charleen has an innate feel for how TV programmes are going to perform even before they go to air.

Media Manager

Neha’s role at Rainmakers leverages her outstanding analytical capabilities and ‘smart thinking’, and her innate way of looking for new and better solutions for advertisers.

Neha has excellent competency across all media platforms, her special skill is in digital media.

She is fully Google qualified and takes it upon herself to constantly upskill in all facets of this evolving media and enjoys the on-going innovations of this whole new way of communicating with the world.

Media Strategist

Mike has 30 years’ experience in media, communications and marketing.

Mike’s passion is developing consumer centred media solutions that are pragmatic and effective. His extensive experience across all media formats and focus on channel strategy, enables Mike to add significant value to his clients’ businesses. Mike has worked across most industry sectors in multinational creative agencies and media shops.

Areas of expertise include Retail (Mitre 10, NZ’s leading home improvement retailer, EXXON Mobil), Finance (Visa, MasterCard and Bank of New Zealand), Automotive (Daimler Chrysler) and FMCG (Cadbury, L’Oréal).

Mike is recognised as a contributor to the broader media industry. He is a multiple winner of gold awards at the NZ Media Awards. He served on the CAANZ Media committee and has been a judge for the NZ Media and Effie Awards.

With Mike taking on the senior strategy role with the team at Rainmakers, this has allowed us to deliver on our promise of experienced practitioners providing a truly “hands on” service.
